🌟 Transforming Our Community: Before and After 🌟

We're thrilled to share the incredible progress made in revitalizing our city! Did you know the City of Mattoon recently finished surveying over 9,000 properties in Mattoon to assess their quality?

Now that we have the data, take a look at these before and after photos of a once blighted property that has now been demolished by the City of Mattoon earlier this month!

Before, this site stood as a symbol of neglect, dragging down the beauty and potential of our neighborhood. But now, thanks to our collective efforts, it's been transformed into a clean slate, ready for new possibilities to flourish.

This isn't just about removing eyesores; it's about investing in our community's future. By demolishing blighted properties, we're creating space for new opportunities, whether it's new homes, businesses, or green spaces that enhance our quality of life.

We couldn't have achieved this milestone without the support and collaboration of our dedicated residents, city officials, and community partners. Together, we're shaping a brighter, more vibrant Mattoon for generations to come.

Let's continue working hand in hand to keep building a community we're proud to call home! 🏡💪

I have to say something. I was the Superintendent of the Wastewater plant for many years. We did what we could to improve things at the plant with what we had . This plant is in need of dire upgrades and replacement of worn out equipment. I see the new sports complex by the interstate. The city is more than willing to do things that have a visual appeal. The Wastewater plant has never been a priority for the city. The citizens of MATTOON need to get active in the city’s affairs and get the neglected areas addressed.

If I was the city of Mattoon, I’d stop trying because many of you just complain about the progress they have made. I’m wondering what any of you have done to help improve your community. My guess is little to none because you expect everyone else to do it all.

I am so happy to hear this.
