City of Mattoon Electricity Service Rates

The City of Mattoon has accepted new bids for the electrical supply for our residents. The new prices take effect in June.

Residents in our rate program currently pay $4.48¢/kW*hr for electric supply. The rate from June 2016 to May 2019 will be $5.85¢/kW*hr.

Although this is a significant increase, we believe it will prove to be one of the best rates available in the coming year. The City of Mattoon has joined over 100 other communities, representing over 350,000 households, to get this rate for your electric supply.

Ameren’s 2015/2016 rates were $5.974¢/kW*hr from June 2015 to September 2015, and $6.219¢/kW*hr from October 2015 to May 2016. Ameren will announce their 2016/2017 rates in May.

The City of Mattoon has saved our residents an average of $360 since the inception of our rate program in February of 2013. The City of Mattoon will take immediate action, and will alert our residents, if Ameren’s rate drops below ours.

Mattoon residents will be receiving an “Opt-Out Notice” in the mail within the next few weeks. No action is required to remain covered by our rates. Residents currently in our rate program can simply discard the notice. Residents who do not wish to be covered by our rates can “opt-out” by completing and returning the letter. Residents who have opted-out in the past will need to opt-out again if they wish to remain out of the program. Residents who have moved to a 3rd party supplier (someone other than Ameren or the City of Mattoon) will have to contact their supplier if they want to change to our program. The Opt-Out Notice will contain additional details.

Our Electrical supplier is Homefield Energy. For information on Homefield Energy, residents may visit www.homefieldenergy.com. For more specific questions, residents may contact Homefield Energy at 866-694-1262, or email HomefieldCustCare@Dynegy.com.

It is very important to note that no work is ever required on a resident's part to remain in the City of Mattoon's program. Phone solicitations, door-to-door solicitors, and postal solicitations are not representing the City of Mattoon’s rate program.
