Bagelfest is a mere two months away, hard to believe.  July 19-21st will be the 27th Annual Bagelfest and tickets are now on sale for the entertainment on the main stage.  Thursday night July 19th will be a FREE concert with contemporary Christian band Sixteen Cities.  Friday night will be a long overdue showcase of local talent: Taylor Wagner, Muddy Grove, and Suede.  Tickets are $5 and seating is general admission.  Saturday night is country legend Ronnie Milsap.  Tickets are $15 for assigned seating and $10 for lawn seating.  To purchase tickets you can call the Tourism Office at 800-500-6286, online at www.mattoonbagelfest.com or in person at the Tourism Office in Mattoon City Hall during regular business hours.


the boys are back in town:
 
  • Welcome the IHSA Boys State Track and Field this weekend May 24-26th on the campus of Eastern Illinois University. Eastern Illinois University, Charleston & Mattoon all welcome the season of runners as this weekend   This annual event welcomes thousands of athletes and fans from around the State of Illinois.  Lets show them the hospitality and friendliness we are known for as they all spend time in Coles County.  If you would like to attend any of the competition check out the schedule of events at:  www.ihsa.org/SportsActivities/BoysTrackField.aspx

Fore goodness sake don't miss out on the Lake Land College Foundation Golf Outing this week May 25th at Meadowview Golf Course. Its a shotgun start at noon running until approximately 5pm. Lunch and registration start at 11am. For more information contact Dave Cox at 217-254-7970.


how does your garden grow?
 
The Coles County Historical Society presents the 24th annual Garden Ramble this weekend May 26th-27th at Wesley Whiteside's five acre farm garden two miles east of Charleston on route 16.  There will be a variety of plants to see from the rare and exotic species as well as familiar well loved flowers, shrubs and trees.  Plant guides and refreshments available. Vendors and speakers on plants and garden related subjects.  Donations is $6 a person with children under 12 free when accompanied by an adult. For more information call 235-6744.
