The City of Mattoon is accepting applications for an operator at our Wastewater Treatment Plant. The open shift is Wednesday thru Saturday (4 ea 10 hrs/day, 7A to 5P). The position is open to entry level candidates and experienced operators. An educational background in biology or chemistry is a plus. Mechanical aptitude is required.
Operator pay is based on IEPA Operator licensure:
Candidates with no license = $19.04/hr.
Class 4 WWTP License = $22.48/hr.
Class 3 WWTP License = $24.66/hr.
Class 2 WWTP License = $28.41/hr.
Class 1 WWTP License = $29.66/hr.
Entry level candidates are eligible to test for the Class 4 license after 1 year, a Class 3 license after 2 years, a Class 2 license after 4 years, and a Class 1 license after 6 years.
