Mayor Hall Elected to the IML Board of Directors

CHICAGO — The Illinois Municipal League (IML) elected officers and members to its Board of Directors at its Annual Business Meeting, held September 19, as a part of the 113th IML Annual Conference at the Hyatt Regency Chicago.
IML membership unanimously elected Mayor John C. Lewis, City of Mount Vernon, to serve a one-year term as President. Also elected were Mayor Rita Ali, City of Peoria, as First Vice President, and Mayor Mark Kownick, Village of Cary, as Second Vice President.
In addition to the officers, 34 Vice Presidents were elected to serve a one-year term, and eight IML Past Presidents continue to serve on the statewide association’s Board of Directors. City of Mattoon Mayor Rick Hall was elected to serve as a Vice President.
“Strength lies in unity, and it is critical that municipalities across Illinois collaborate to build stronger communities and drive positive transformation throughout the entire state,” said Hall. “I look forward to working with mayors from across the state to advocate for local government and address the complex issues our communities face.”
Rick Hall has been a lifelong resident of Mattoon. Rick was elected as Mayor on April 6, 2021, after serving as a city commissioner for over 13 years. He has served as commissioner of public health and safety and as commissioner of public property. Rick has a BS in accounting and an MBA from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and is a CPA. Business experience includes five years in public accounting for PM&M in St. Louis and Murphy, Jenne & Jones in Mattoon. Rick worked as VP and served in several executive management positions for 30 years at Consolidated Communications, Inc. Rick was the Chief Operating Officer for two years at Solix in Charleston and finished his professional career with 6 years at Tapella & Eberspacher LLC law firm as the business manager. Rick is an Army veteran with a tour of duty in Vietnam.
The Illinois Municipal League is the statewide association representing municipalities throughout Illinois. IML has worked continuously for the benefit of all 1,294 cities, villages and towns in Illinois to provide a formal voice on matters involving common interests.
