CITY OF MATTOON – PARKS & LAKES DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE July 2, 2025 Lake Mattoon Waterfowl Hunting Drawing The City of Mattoon has announced the 2025 annual drawing to assign waterfowl hunting privileges at Lake Mattoon. The City of Mattoon has 12 blind locations designated for the hunting of waterfowl at Lake Mattoon. Applicants must reside in Coles, Cumberland or Shelby Counties and be 18 years old. IDOT Work on IL 16 (Charleston Ave)
Beginning June 16, 2025 IDOT is scheduled to begin work on IL 16 (Charleston Ave from just west of Swords Drive to Lake Land Boulevard) on June 16th. Howell Paving is the prime contractor and along with several subcontractors they will be setting up traffic control, removing and replacing concrete curb and gutter, removing sidewalk, placing underground cable for new signals and lighting at various locations within the project limits. You can expect to multiple crews at various locations and can expect to experience lane closures throughout the rest of the construction season.
