Maximum Flood Capacity Reached

The City of Mattoon Waste Water Treatment Plant reached maximum flood capacity this morning. This means that the sanitary sewers and storm sewers in town are all full.

CITY-WIDE CLEANUP SATURDAY MAY 20, 2017

The City of Mattoon will be conducting our annual City-Wide Cleanup from 8 A.M. to 11 A.M. on Saturday, May 20, 2017. The City of Mattoon will have dumpsters available at the Yard Waste Facility at Shelby Avenue and Logan Street. 
 
The dumpsters are available for Mattoon residents. A Driver’s License or Water Bill Stub, with a Mattoon city address, is required in order to dispose of material at the site. The site is open for residential clean-up only. The site will not be open to commercial contractors. Load size will be limited to 1 ton trucks and trailers.

Hydrant flushing to begin April 3, 2017

The City of Mattoon, Public Works Department, will begin flushing fire hydrants Monday April 3, 2017 and continue until all lines are flushed.

Flushing will be conducted weekdays between 6:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

City of Mattoon Electricity Service Rates

The City of Mattoon has accepted new bids for the electrical supply for our residents. The new prices take effect in June.

Residents in our rate program currently pay $4.48¢/kW*hr for electric supply. The rate from June 2016 to May 2019 will be $5.85¢/kW*hr.
