Water Quality Update – July 14, 2026
CITY OF MATTOON Water Quality Update – July 14, 2026 Current Sample Sample collected on July 13, 2026 showed non-detectable levels of harmful algal bloom neurological toxin in the drinking water at 0.104 ppb which is considered non-detect under the EPA guidelines and the recommended advisory levels of .30 ppb. As per recent Illinois EPA’s recommendations, sampling and testing will be conducted every two weeks. Results will continue to be posted on the City’s website. CITY OF MATTOON – PARKS & LAKES DEPARTMENT PRESS RELEASE July 08, 2026 Lake Mattoon Waterfowl Hunting Drawing The City of Mattoon has announced the 2026 annual drawing to assign waterfowl hunting privileges at Lake Mattoon. The City of Mattoon has 12 blind locations designated for the hunting of waterfowl at Lake Mattoon. Applicants must reside in Coles, Cumberland or Shelby Counties and be 18 years old. Broadway Ave. Roadwork Update
Howell Paving will start milling on Broadway this Wednesday, June 17th, around 6:30 am. They will begin by milling everything between 21st Street and 19th Street. When this section is completed, they will move across 19th Street and begin moving east towards 14th Street. Milling operations might be completed on Wednesday but could go into Thursday. The resurfacing portion of the project will follow the milling and will take a couple of days to complete.
