Crestview Road Drainage Improvements

The City of Mattoon will begin making drainage improvements on Crestview Road between IL 16 and Crestview Drive beginning Tuesday, June 17, 2025, weather permitting. Crestview Road will be closed to through traffic for approximately a week during the duration of the work for these drainage improvements.

IDOT Work on IL 16 (Charleston Ave)

Beginning June 16, 2025 IDOT is scheduled to begin work on IL 16 (Charleston Ave from just west of Swords Drive to Lake Land Boulevard) on June 16th. Howell Paving is the prime contractor and along with several subcontractors they will be setting up traffic control, removing and replacing concrete curb and gutter, removing sidewalk, placing underground cable for new signals and lighting at various locations within the project limits. You can expect to multiple crews at various locations and can expect to experience lane closures throughout the rest of the construction season.

City of Mattoon Fire Hydrant Flushing The City of Mattoon Public Works Department, will begin flushing fire hydrants Monday, April 7th, 2024 and continue until all lines are flushed. Flushing will be conducted weekdays between 6:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Hydrant flushing is done to ensure all City hydrants and water lines are operating properly and will be usable during a fire emergency.
