The City of Mattoon is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Public Works Director.
The Assistant Public Works Director reports the Public Works Director assisting the oversight of the Engineering Department, Street/Utility Department, Water Treatment Plant, and Wastewater Treatment Plant.
The Assistant Public Works Director provides input and assists in the oversight of the Department’s planning, budgeting, operation, construction, and maintenance of, Streets, Sidewalks, Bikeways, City Buildings & Grounds, Water Treatment & Distributions, Wastewater Collection & Treatment, Storm Water Management, Boulevard Trees, Landscaping, etc.
The position assists in the management of approximately 33 employees, with an annual operating budget of $6.7 million, and an average annual design and construction budget of $5.0 million.
The position requires a two-year degree from an accredited Community College plus Water and Wastewater Operator certifications are a plus, or a degree in civil engineering or closely related field. A professional engineering license and six years of increasingly responsible public works administration or civil engineering experience with at least three years in supervisory position is a plus. The starting salary is $90,000 to $100,000 DOQ, plus IMRF retirement, health insurance, 13 paid holidays, 2 weeks of vacation, and 2 weeks of sick leave. The full salary and benefit schedule can be view at:
