WWTP OPERATOR – CITY OF MATTOON

The City of Mattoon is accepting applications for an operator at our Wastewater Treatment Plant. The open shift is Wednesday thru Saturday (4 ea 10 hrs/day, 7A to 5P). The position is open to entry-level candidates and experienced operators. An educational background in biology or chemistry is a plus. Mechanical aptitude is required.

Entry-level means no experience…so high school or ged. If you want experience or biology or chemistry background you require a bachelors or higher.

Basically, they want all the expertise but pay entry level.

Broadway Streetscaping from 14th to 16th This project is a continuation of the streetscape improvements the City of Mattoon has done from 16th west.  This project will continue incorporating the same design and aesthetics that has been used to date. Annual Fire Hydrant Flow Testing

The Mattoon Fire Department will be conducting annual flow testing, maintenance, and painting of fire hydrants throughout the City of Mattoon beginning July 26, 2021, and will continue until completed. Pending weather, this process should take 4-6 weeks to complete. The hydrants will be flowed between the hours of 8am and 3pm This testing is done to check flow rates to help provide better protection and response to the citizens and visitors of Mattoon.
