Inside the Mattoon PD

The Mattoon Police Department is home to 37 Officers, 5 full time and part time support staff, and Goro, an ever faithful German Shepherd police canine. The department is administered by a Chief and Deputy Chief. 29 Officers comprise the Patrol Division which is divided into 4 squads that work 12 hour shifts. An Investigative Division is staffed with 4 Detectives. Additionally, Mattoon Police have an Officer assigned to partner with Mattoon Community Schools. The department also has personnel assigned to assist the East Central Illinois Drug Task Force in narcotics investigations.

The department handles approximately 30,776 calls per year while patrolling 9.8 square miles within the City. An average total of 300,000 miles are driven per year by eight patrol units in a department that is always open, and always ready to serve you.
