Election Dates To Remember

When there is an upcoming election, this page will list important election-related dates to remember.

There are no municipal elections until 2021, with some details now posted in the Election 2021 section below.

Election 2020

Early Voters – General Election

Early voting starts on September 24, 2020 and runs through November 3.
In Mattoon, there is a location change from City Hall to:

The Salvation Army Citadel
1300 Richmond Avenue

September 24, 2020 – November 3, 2020

Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Saturdays Oct 24th and 31st, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (noon)

Election 2021

City Council Consolidated Election Date:  April 06, 2021

Nominating Petition Materials are available at the City Clerk’s Office beginning on Tuesday, September 22, 2020.

The 2021 Candidate’s Guide is available at the Illinois State Board of Elections website under the “Running for Office” tab:

Filing dates for the April 06, 2021 Election are December 14 – 21, 2020.
